Bringing Interactivity to the Classroom Using Technology

Essential Questions
Why use interactivity in my classroom?
What is available to create an engaging interactive environment in my classroom
How do I organize this interactivity

What We'll Do
  • See examples of classroom use.
  • Experience the use of interactive tools.
  • Make decisions about tools to use and how to use them in the classroom.
  • Create and organize activites appropriate for your classroom.
  • Reflect on your learning.

This wiki will serve as an example of how to organize the information you gain during our workshop. You will create your own wiki during the workshop, and I will show you how here. As well as using this wiki during the workshop, you might want to return here for all the things you may have misplaced, forgotten, or that were "over the top" during the workshop but that you would like to think about later. What is a wiki?

First Things First: Who is in our class today?
1. This is a Google Form to gather information about participants in our class. It is embedded in this wiki so you don't need a Google account to complete the form.

  • In the classroom: This would be a good way to learn about your students' interests, or to complete a pre-assessment before beginning a unit of study.

2. View the results
Go to this link to view a spreadsheet with the survey results http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=pR5WuF0aWkYIYJ9fszbXJJw&hl=en You need a Google account to view this. Create one if you don't already have one.

How do you do this?
This Google form is an example of media embedded in this wiki. While it may seem complicated at first to understand how to use these types of tools, most work in similar ways.
  • To embed media in Wikispaces, find the media you want to embed.
  • Locate the code that indicates "embed"ing on the media's page.
  • Copy and paste the code using the embedding media icon embed_media_icon.pngfrom your wiki editing toolbar. For Google forms, click "Other HTML" after clicking the media icon.
